At 23 years old, Nathan Smothers was the youngest of the Farmer Wants a Wife Season 2 bachelors, but he may have also been the wisest. “Honestly, I think I’m a lot more mature than a lot of people my age,” the fourth-generation citrus and cattle farmer shared in the premiere. “My dad passed away when I was 12. …It’s kind of made me into the man I am today.”

Nathan’s choice was obvious from the moment he went to pick Taylor up at Blondtourage (her brilliantly named place of employment in Dallas) in last week’s episode. But that didn’t make his declaration of love (or “falling in love” with her) any less romantic.
“When you leave, I just can’t wait for the next time I get to see you,” he said.
His one concern was whether Taylor was really okay with moving to Florida, given the full life she had back home in Texas. She assured him she was, because he was “somebody worth making that sacrifice for and taking that leap of faith with.”

Nathan really cared for Allye (and his family really did, too), but she wasn’t the one. He thanked her for coming to the farm, credited her with helping him to “open up” and admitted there were “sparks” on their solo date. But he couldn’t shake the feeling that he wasn’t getting the whole Allye; she was still holding back too much.
Despite the “fantastic” time he had with her, he said, he had to “go a different direction.”
Allye took the news well and thanked him for helping “tear all her walls down.” Perhaps when we see her next she’ll have a new tattoo commemorating the experience. A tiny orange would make for cute ink.
